June was Jubiulant

The other day I was going through Sci4Ga’s pitch deck with a BOD member, who is not in the weeds with us daily, and she said, “It’s so fun to check in and learn what Sci4Ga is doing because – we are awesome!”

I am so proud to be a part of this awesomeness.

On June 15 we hosted our second annual Environmental Justice and Climate Protection conference with Dogwood AllianceCenter for Black Women’s Wellness (CBWW), and Emory’s Center for Children’s Health Assessment, Research Translation, and Combating Environmental Racism (CHARTER).

Over 100 people attended this standing-room-only event, with an additional 60+ people online. It’s amazing to know we have outgrown our space and that we can plan something bigger next year.

Our amazing, hardworking, interns (also another summer highlight) are busy compiling what we learned and sending a matchmaking survey to conference participants to ensure that we build coalitions and get to work on the items discussed. Expect more amazing things as we head into the Fall.

Why do one thing in a month, when you can do four?

We had a great Climate Survival Training where we learned about gardening, a day the stop where we learned about Wastewater treatment, and a packed house Atlanta Science Tavern featuring Tony Martin’s new book.

We look forward to July with all these amazing events happening:

We are excited to join the 21st Century and have an actual Event Calendar! Check it out.

We are also newsworthy – check out Sci4Ga in the press this month

As always – we couldn’t do this amazing work without the support of our Science Loving Community! Please consider making a donation to make Science Matter Here!
