Earth Day is always a reminder of the important, but delicate, world around us. Atlanta’s regenerative food system scene is leading the way in the Southeast but more needs to be done. Come learn about the effects of wasted food on people, planet, and profit and how you can help our food system become a SOILution for all.
Featured Speakers:
Natasha Dyer at Acting Executive Director & Program Manager for the SWEEP Standard and Blair Michal, Partner Advocate at Better Earth
Lifelong zero-waster and recycler, when she is not found teaching members of her community about the importance of composting as a way to lessen their environmental impact, or advising her local County Commissioners as a Sustainability Cabinet Member, Natasha Dyer serves as Acting Executive Director & Program Manager for the SWEEP Standard, a nationally-based solid waste environmental consultancy that helps local governments and the resource recovery industry to realize its goals in waste generation reduction and a movement towards sustainable materials management and circular economies–thus also helping them to lessen their own environmental impacts.
Growing up gardening Blair realized early on that soil and regenerative food systems can save us. After graduating from Georgia Southern, Blair helped Atlanta businesses of all scales set up composting. programs as the Commercial Program Manager at CompostNow. In her current role as the Partner Advocate at Better Earth, a sustainable packaging provider in Atlanta, she helps connect partners across the food value chain. This includes farmers growing the raw materials, consumers using compostable food serviceware, composters, and policymakers to advocate for regenerative circularity across our country. In her spare time, you can still find Blair in her garden.
